Tuner proposes to convert classic Porsche 911s from manual to PDK

Most Porsche enthusiasts are convinced that stick shift is the only way to go, but as times change, some drivers start looking for alternatives. If you feel like experimenting, KCPerformance will convert your air-cooled 911 from manual to dual-clutch.

The whole kit comes to €50,000 or so. The tuning company takes a modern PDK transmission and puts it into an earlier-generation 911, such as a 993 or 930. The main requirement is that it is air-cooled and not water-cooled.

Aside from the updated drivetrain, the car winds up with modern electronic ignition and injection systems, a custom flywheel, a crankshaft position sensor, and an electronically controlled throttle body.

Rounding off the list is a special ECU that ensures smooth operation of the engine with its new transmission. It even allows for customizing individual parameters, like gear shift speeds and aggression. The steering wheel gets amended with paddle shifters, but you can use the stick on the tunnel instead if you prefer it.
