50-year-old luxury motorhome can be yours for €149k

Elderly campers aren’t exactly fast sellers, but this Mercedes-Benz LA 1113 B Variomobil might just make an exception thanks to its excellent condition and deluxe trim. Having been made in the distant year 1974, it is now up for grabs in Germany for a cool €149,000 ($162,000).

Power for the home on wheels comes from a 5.7-liter, direct-injection diesel engine rated at 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW). A 12-speed transmission carries the torque to all four wheels. A rear differential lock is available for easier traversal.

From the motorhome standpoint, the vehicle features a large bed for two, a shower cabin with a WC, a kitchen and a neat living room. Natural wood and other premium materials all around create a nice and relaxing atmosphere. There is a fridge on board, a TV, a gas stove and numerous storage opportunities. 540 Watts’ worth of solar panels deliver the electricity, and you can use a generator with a second fuel tank for months of autonomy. The fresh water tank on board fits 300 liters (79 U.S. gallons) of water, so that helps, too.
