Mercedes-Benz posts video proof that its EQXX is the world’s most efficient EV

You may have heard that the Mercedes-Benz EQXX Concept has recently set a power efficiency record by making a trip from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Dubai, UAE on a single charge.

The company had claimed that the experimental powertrain used by the car consumed the least amount of electricity per 100 km possible. It has now followed up on that claim by releasing video footage from the trip. It includes the preliminary checks, the charging process, the plotting of the route and some highlights from the drive itself, including the challenges that the crew faced out in the middle of the desert.

For one thing, the people inside the EQXX ended up having to run air conditioning non-stop. For another, they had to contend with heavy traffic near and in the city of Dubai. Despite these difficulties, they managed to set a world record for the least power consumed per unit of distance.
