Ford fires thousands of workers in Europe
Ford has announced furloughing around 4,000 employees in Europe until 2027.
The company’s downsizing program spans three years and targets a 14% smaller staff on the Old Continent by 2027. Most of the workers getting laid off are in Germany and the UK.
With the Ford Fiesta, Galaxy, Mondeo and S-Max already out of production and the Focus set to join them soon, the company has no need for as many workers as it currently employs. In Europe, Ford will be focusing on SUVs, crossovers and light commercial transports from now on.
