Fiat 500 Ibrida appears in first photo

Fiat has shared the first pic of the 500 Ibrida, a hybrid version of the iconic model number 500 (see video).

The current generation of the hatchback has been fully electric so far, and it looks like it hasn’t sold well. With a recent change of leadership, Stellantis Group is now trying to offer alternatives to EVs across all of its subordinate brands, including Fiat. 

It is unclear at this point what kind of powertrain the new Fiat 500 will receive. Rumors suggest it could be a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine linked to a preselector DCT with a built-in 48V starter-generator. This remains to be confirmed, though.

The production is expected to start in November this year.
