This Koenigsegg Jesko is a spectacular $100 fake

NHET TV is a YouTube channel well known to all car enthusiasts worldwide who enjoy seeing cheap cars turned into supercar replicas. The latest work of the talented Vietnamese team is arguably its wildest so far: it’s a Koenigsegg Jesko running on Toyota Corona Mk.9 underpinnings.

The Corona sedan (alternatively called the Carina E) was reportedly procured for the project for a token amount of $100. It was a ruined car with a rotten bodywork and cabin, but a functional powertrain. The workshop had spent a year producing a new body complete with intricately shaped doors and pop-up rear end with a spoiler. The proportions and the aero kit look very close to those of the extreme Jesko Attack hypercar.

Only affordable materials were used in the cabin. The dashboard was cobbled together from cheap plastic panels, most of the displays used were fake and non-functional, but at least the seats and the center console do a decent job imitating the originals.

The powertrain was overhauled but left stock. The ninth-generation Toyota Corona sent something like 120–160 horsepower (90–120 kW) to the wheels depending on the market and the engine. A real Jesko is in an entirely different league with its 1,600 PS (1,578 hp / 1,177 kW), but that’s beside the point.

According to NHET TV, their goal was to practice their car building skills and keep their subscribers happy. The replica is not streel-legal in Vietnam, nor is it up for sale.
