One-off Excalibur RS goes on auction

The unique Excalibur roadster allegedly penned by Brooks Stevens back in the early 1960s but never built until the ‘90s is set to cross the auction block in the USA in mid-May.

Robert Shaw, the man behind the build, says he was a friend of Stevens’ and spent ten years building the car as an homage to him. It’s street-legal and runs on a custom chassis built from scratch. Not only the exterior, but also much of the interior is finished with aluminum. Fixed, non-adjustable seats and a retro dashboard add to the retro charm.

A 5.7-liter General Motors V8 supplies an unspecified amount of power to the wheels via an automatic transmission. An Edelbrock injection system and a custom exhaust suggest it’s a fairly fast car.
