Meet Alpha Ace, a U.S.-designed electric coupe with no ‘Romeo’ in name

Alpha Motor Corporation, a budding carmaker headquartered in Irvine, California, has unveiled a two-door, in-house-designed electric car named the Ace.

The vehicle is 4,180 mm (13.71 ft.) long, 1,886 mm (6.19 ft.) wide and 1,450 mm (4.76 ft.) tall with unspecified wheelbase. The wheels themselves can be 16 or 18 inches across. The interior only has seats for two people, while the rear row only lends itself for use as a trunk measuring 396 liters, or 14 cubic feet.

The car needs around six seconds to go 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) and gets 402 kilometers (250 miles) of range from its battery. It features LED lighting all around and a body finished in Blue Seraph.

Inside, there is a central display (size unspecified) and a steering wheel with two gauges and touchpads on the spokes. Cloth loops act as door handles, and promised features include Bluetooth support and a high-end audio system.

Alpha Motor claims it will debut its first “major” model in early 2021 and start production in 2023. Three weeks ago, it came out with a teaser of a minivan called the Icon EUV.

The automaker has a proprietary architecture in its portfolio called the Automobile Modular Platform (AMP), which it plans to use for its entire COM range of vehicles. There will be three product lines: COM-1 for large buses and trucks, COM-2 for SUVs and MPVs, and COM-3 for self-driving cars.
