GAC EMPOW55, Aion Y to hit production in spring 2021
In November 2020, GAC Motor Company unveiled prototype versions of its upcoming performance sedan called EMPOW55 and electric SUV named Aion Y. It is now official that both cars will be introduced at a motor show in April and go on sale in China before the end of the spring.
The EMPOW55 will ship with a few Mega Wave Power Series gas turbo engines to choose from. The 1.5L version will be capable of 169 PS (167 hp / 124 kW), while the larger 2.0L unit will churn out 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW). A hybrid powertrain will also be available.
Little is known about the Aion Y except for its wheelbase (2,750 mm /9.02 feet). The interior image provided also reveals a floating multimedia screen.
