Skoda debuts the new Kodiaq RS

The second-generation Skoda Kodiaq will soon get an RS version powered by the same engine as the Volkswagen Golf GTI, lending it extra power and standard AWD. The launch date is pending.

Power for the new Kodiaq RS comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mill rated at 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. That’s an extra 20 horsepower, or 15 kilowatts, compared to the next spec down the list. A seven-speed DCT conveys the momentum to the wheels, getting you from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.3 seconds. The seven-seat version is just one-tenth of a second slower than that. The top speed lies at 231 km/h (143 mph).

The SUV comes equipped with DCC Plus adaptive suspension as standard, offering a selection of 15 damping settings and a variety of drive modes. These include Eco, Standard, Comfort, Sport, Snow, and Off-Road.

Additions on the outside boil down to aggressive bumpers, blacked-out trim accents, and 20-inch wheels with red brake calipers.

Buyers will be choosing from two trim options for the cabin, both represented by a combo of black and red materials. Sport seats and steering wheel, an infotainment system connected to two displays 10 and 13 inches large, and a heated back bench are all listed as standard. The same goes for LED Matrix headlights and a Canton audio system.
