The facelifted GWM Tank 300 and its stretched 300L variant are already available for ordering in China starting from 259,800 Yuan, which converts into U.S. $38,250.
One of China’s most popular and recognizable off-roaders now looks more up-to-date thanks to a blacked-out fake-mesh grille, a larger logo in the middle of the front end, and redesigned headlights. The company claims that improved bumpers let it have approach, departure and ramp angles of 38, 33 and 19 degrees, respectively. A roof-mounted LiDAR is present in the top spec.
Inside, the steering wheel looks new and the multimedia display is now 15.6 inches large. The 12.3-inch digital dashboard stays the same. Options include a 12-speaker audio system, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel. Massage and ventilation are also available, but only for the front row.
The long-wheelbase variant of the SUV – the Tank 300L – boasts 260 mm (10.2 inches) of extra space between the axles compared to the standard version. Its body is only 136 millimeters (5.4 inches) longer, though, and it’s unclear how much more legroom and trunk space it has.
Like before, the 2027 GWM Tank can be obtained with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, and its power goes up from 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW) to 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW). The standard 2.4-liter turbo diesel is also available with 184 PS (181 hp / 136 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft).
Hybrid options is, arguably where things get interesting. The former Hi4-T powertrain is still listed with 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft), but it’s no longer the only option. A new Hi4-Z PHEV system promises superior 761 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) and up to 1,195 Nm (881 lb-ft) of torque.
This new variant of the Tank 300 only needs 4.3 seconds to get from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and can travel up to 200 km (124 miles) in all-electric mode. Add a full gas tank, and it can do 1,122 km (697 miles).
Perhaps most remarkably of all, the range-topping Tank 300L Hi4-Z starts from a low 269,800 Yuan, or $39,720.
