Aerodynamic Development Race Optimization (ADRO) has launched a painstakingly optimized and tested aero kit for Tesla EVs meant to reduce drag and extend battery mileage.
The list has packages for the Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV. Included are a front spoiler lip, side skirts, a rear diffuser and a rear spoiler. Everything is made from the so-called ‘dry carbon fiber’, which is manufactured with a special substance called prepreg. Compared to the more common ‘wet’ approach, this manufacturing method results in lighter and sturdier aerodynamic parts.
Coming in at $5,500, the kit is by no means cheap, but you may be able to get a small discount if you order it simultaneously with the car.
ADRO specifies that the drag goes down by up to 4.4% for the Model Y and by 3.2% for the Model 3. This translates into faster acceleration improved handling and less power expenditure, meaning you can go farther on one battery charge.
