Xiaomi Skynomad N70 Range Extender SUV Debuts in China

Xiaomi has introduced the Skynomad N70, a range-extended electric SUV, to the Chinese market with a starting price of 209,900 yuan (approximately $31,275 USD). Positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Tesla Model Y and Xiaomi's own YU7, the N70 is offered with two battery configurations and a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine acting as a generator.

The base model, the N70 Pro, features a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 282 hp. It is equipped with a 52 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery, providing an all-electric range of 351 km (218 miles). With the range extender engaged, the N70 Pro achieves a combined range of 1,351 km (839 miles).

The flagship N70 Max variant boasts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a combined 416 hp. This model utilizes a larger 76 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, offering an electric range of 505 km (314 miles) and an extended total range of 1,461 km (908 miles). The N70 Max also incorporates air suspension for enhanced ride comfort and handling.

Dimensionally, the Skynomad N70 measures 4,960 mm (195.2 inches) in length, 1,998 mm (78.6 inches) in width, and 1,785 mm (70.2 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm (116.1 inches). These dimensions position it as a larger vehicle compared to the standard Tesla Model Y. Standard features across the N70 lineup include heated and ventilated front and rear seats, a 20-inch head-up display, a 16.1-inch infotainment screen, and an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, with the N70 Max upgrading to a 25-speaker audio system.
