Factory-tuned BMW M2 improves its Nürburgring lap time

The latest OEM tuning package for the BMW M2 coupe is already available for ordering at a cool €23,500. It’s listed as the M Performance Track Kit and comprises several aero parts along with new coilover-based suspension, keeping the car street-legal after installation.

The contents mention a redesigned front splitter, an adjustable rear wing and some smaller aero components, like winglets and canards. BMW claims that the coilovers are a track-only model that’s been repurposed for street use.

Outfitted like this, the M2 has already run a Nürburgring lap, finishing it in a record-breaking 7 minutes 25.068 seconds. The previous record for this specific model – 7 minutes 22.500 seconds – belonged to a hardcore M2 CS, which is both lighter and 50 PS (49 hp / 37 kW) stronger. Looks like the package is enough to compensate for the power difference between the two.
