New platform under development for Lamborghini EVs

Volkswagen Group is preparing a brand-new electric architecture to meet the requirements of the most powerful and luxurious vehicle segment.

This new architecture will be used by Audi, Bentley and Porsche brands once it is ready. More importantly, Lamborghini will receive a special top-of-the-line modification of this platform, underpinned with a groundbreaking 980V electrical system and a multi-motor powertrain targeting 2,000 horsepower (1,500 kilowatts) of combined output.

The corresponding statement stems from Oliver Blume, the CEO of the German automotive group. It sounds really intriguing if you consider that Lambo’s Lanzador EV Concept from just two years ago was conceptualized with a peak output of 1,360 PS (1,344 hp / 1 megawatt). It looks like the company has seen the need to distance its EVs from regular ICE cars much further than it originally thought it needed.

There is no set launch date, but sources tell us not to expect an all-electric Lambo hypercar until at least 2028.
