BYD Song L presents specs

The part-electric BYD Song L DM-i crossover that the company announced a few days ago has now been added to the Ministry of Industry database in China. This essentially means that it’s almost ready for domestic launch, Car News China believes.

We are told that the Song L is coming to phase out the Song Plus model (see video), which is sold in Europe under the name “Seal U”.

The biggest improvement comes in the form of a fifth-generation DM-i hybrid powertrain already found in the Qin L and Seal 06 models. In the Song L, it will consist of a 1.5-liter petrol engine rated at 101 PS (100 hp / 75 kW) and a single electric motor adding 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW). Customers will be choosing from two LiFePo4 batteries, but their specifications remain to be revealed.

All prices are also pending. Media in China believe that the base trim will start from 120,000 or 130,000 Yuan.
