Report: New e-SUV from Chery/Xiaomi to go on sale soon, costs 120k CNY

The battery-powered crossover iCar V23, co-designed between Chery and Xiaomi subsidiary Zhimi Technology, is scheduled to reach the showrooms in China in a few months priced from 119,800 Yuan.

The corresponding statement comes from CarNewsChina quoting an alleged document leak. The car is described as rather compact at 4,220 x 1,915 x 1,845 millimeters (165 x 75 x 72 inches) large with 2,730 mm (106.6 inches) between the axles. Despite being smaller than iCar’s first production model, the 03, it is described as a more upmarket alternative to it.

Rugged looks, short overhangs, 212 mm (8.3 inches) of ground clearance and dual-motor AWD suggest that iCar will be banking the V23 as a capable off-roader. Among other things, the leaked documents mention approach and departure angles of 43 and 41 degrees, respectively. Still, it looks like a more city-focused version with less clearance and only one engine may go on sale alongside this spec. For the range, CarNewsChina expects anywhere between 300 and 500 km per charge (186–310 miles).

Sales on the domestic market should begin before the end of the year. Going forward, Chery and Zhimi plan to produce between 6 and 8 other EVs for various market segments.
