Ram 1500 gets a lightly armored aftermarket version

Inkas, a Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer, has released a special Ram 1500 truck capable of withstanding .357 and .44 caliber Magnum fire.

Armor sheets and layers cover the entire cabin, including the doors, the roof, the pillars and the floor. More of them can be found around the battery and the gas tank. The windows are made from layered ballistic glass. To compensate for the added weight, the company reinforces the door hinges all around and replaces normal tires with a Run-Flat set that will take you a dozen miles farther down the road even if it gets punctured.

Most of the trim options and equipment corresponds to the stock Ram 1500 spec, but Inkas adds a siren to the list, a loudspeaker, an intercom and a night vision system. The 426-PS (420-hp / 313-kW) engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission stay stock. The same goes for the suspension and AWD system, meaning you won’t be able to transport too much cargo in the bed with all the added weight from armor.

Inkas actually has a more comprehensive tuning package for the truck, which is certified to the BR6 armoring standard. It can withstand 7.62mm caliber automatic rifle fire and the simultaneous explosion of two frag grenades underneath the car.
