Car Tuning

Track-only Batmobile replica can be yours for $3M

A company named Action Engineering is accepting preorders on the Wayne Enterprises website for a car named Tumbler, inspired by Christopher Nolan’s Batman saga. It copies the hero’s movie car and starts from U.S. $2,990,000 before options despite not even being street-legal.

The exterior semblance is striking. The car features a tubular frame made from aviation-grade steel and a body composed of Kevlar, carbon fiber and glass fiber bits. It is roughly 4.7 meters (15.4 ft.) long, 2.8 meters (9.2 ft.) wide and 1.5 meters (4.9 ft.) tall while weighing a cool 2.5 metric tons (5,500 lbs).

A 6.2-liter General Motors V8 under the hood delivers 525 PS (518 hp / 386 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is automatic, and the wheels are staggered with 15-inchers at the front and 18.5-inchers at the back.

The interior houses some bucket seats, a couple of 10-inch displays and an air conditioner. Customers are invited to choose the trim they like, and we are told that the pricing may skyrocket with all the customization options on the list. For instance, there are active body kit components, gun turret mockups, a smokescreen device, and a jet engine imitator.

Action Engineering has production plans for 10 such vehicles, apparently targeting well-to-do car collectors. The company claims it cleared the project with Warner Bros, so it can be considered legal.
