Megazilla 2.0 announced with 1,000+ HP, new muscle car price

To the joy of many tuners worldwide, Ford released a crate engine called the Megazilla a while ago. It had 624 PS (615 hp / 459 kW) at the crack and cost $23,000. Now, the company has announced a version 2.0 of the same engine – almost twice as powerful and probably priced to match that power.

We still don’t know all the details, but the important thing to note about the old Megazilla crate engine is that it was naturally aspirated. The new version has the same displacement at 7.3 liters, but tops it with a 3.0-liter supercharger. It also features a number of high-end forged components like the crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods. The power exceeds 1,000 HP (1,014 PS / 746 kW).

Every engine ships with a warranty valid for 24 months or 24,000 miles of use. That’s 38,624 kilometers.

Those looking for a less extreme option will appreciate to know that Ford also offers a supercharged version of its 5.0-liter Coyote V8 now. It features the same supercharger and makes 811 PS (800 hp / 596 kW) along with 834 Nm (615 lb-ft) of torque. Unlike the Megazilla, this crate engine is street-legal.

Sales will start in Q4 2025, Ford says.
