500 HP and 9,000 RPM: Gunther Werks dials up the heat on Porsche 911

Gunther Werks has attended this year’s Monterey Car Week with the extreme Porsche 911 GWR, a restomod packing a high-revving engine without any kind of forced induction and a full-carbon body. Only 40 units will be made.

The car weighs mere 1,080 kilos (2,381 lbs) and commands a 4.0-liter flat-six engine sending 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW) and 461 Nm (340 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. Unlike most other projects based on the 993 lineup, this one eschews dual turbos in favor of a 9,000-RPM redline. A manual transmission sends the power to the rear axle.

To keep things stable on the road, Gunther Werks extends the wheelbase by 30 mm (1.1 inches) and implements double-wishbone front suspension. It also dresses the car out in a gorgeous carbon-fiber body kit comprising an all-new front end, a ducktail spoiler, a new diffuser and 3D-printed tailpipes, among other things.

A look inside the cabin reveals carbon-backed bucket seats, a dashboard trimmed with the same lightweight material, and Alcantara on the steering wheel. Gold accents all around round off the impressive styling.

There has been no mention of the price.
