Volkswagen previews its cheapest EV ever

The Volkswagen ID. Every1 Concept seen here should give you an idea about the electric car that the company plans to launch in a couple of years priced from €20,000 in Europe.

The subcompact vehicle is 3,880 mm (151.6 inches) long and rides on a front-wheel-drive version of Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform. It packs a 95-PS (94-hp / 70-kW) motor and an unspecified “compact battery pack”. The company targets a humble top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph) and just 250 km (155 miles) of range.

A closer look at the renderings reveals a large digital head unit accompanied by hardware HVAC controls and a small instrument display. The steering wheel is squared and has more buttons on its wide spokes.

Volkswagen mentions a highly transformable interior among the main selling points. The EV1 lets you slide the center console from the front seat row to the back and vice versa, fold down all seats except the driver’s to maximize luggage space, or fix up a mini-table in front of the front passenger seat using the provided utility rail.
