New AC Cobra combines retro looks with modern strengths, costs £168k

AC Cars has quite an assortment of revived Cobra models already, including V8-based classical roadsters, limited 2.3L Ford EcoBoost editions, and even pure EVs rated at lowly 312 PS (308 hp / 230 kW). In contrast, the newly announced AC Cobra Series 4 Electric is much, much more appealing.

The roadster packs an electric powertrain rated at 625 PS (616 hp / 460 kW) and 1,001 Nm (739 lb-ft) of torque. It needs 3.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill. The exterior may look like a typical ladder-frame Cobra car to you, but the feature list is state-of-the-art and top-notch. This includes a limited-slip differential, heavy-duty brakes and multi-link suspension. The 54-kWh battery the EV comes with should be enough for 322 km (200 miles) of range, the manufacturer claims.

Prices start at £168,000, and the first shipments are expected in the summer of 2021.
