California has nearly 50% more EV chargers than gas nozzles

Authorities in California have found that the state has around 120,000 gas pump nozzles for ICE car drivers and as many as 178,000 electric vehicle charging points.

The big caveat is that the vast majority of these chargers – around 162,000, to be specific – only support slow charging with AC current. Fast DC stations are rare in comparison.

High gas prices and strict emission standards are recognized as the two main factors behind California’s quick adoption of EVs.
