Meet the Livan Smurf, a rebadged Geely Panda Mini in disguise

Livan, a vehicle automaker from Geely Group, is working on a fully electric microcar for the Chinese domestic market that would compete with the ultra-popular Wuling Hongguang Mini EV. It’s called the Smurf in an obvious nod to the magical creatures from Belgian comics and cartoons, although we have no info on whether the name was licensed.

Judging by the images uploaded to the Ministry of Industry database last weekend, the microcar is based on the Geely Panda Mini, which has received numerous spinoffs and stylizations over its three years of production. The bumpers are new and so is the blue-and-white exterior finish, but that’s about it.

The EV is 3,100 mm long, 1,558 wide and 1,610 mm tall with 2,015 mm between the axles. Like the Panda, it has a four-seat interior and rides on 14-inch wheels. A single e-motor supplies up to 41 PS (40 hp / 30 kW) of power depending on your chosen version. The top speed never exceeds 100 km/h (62 mph).

The battery comes from Gotion and consists of LiFePo4 cells. Its capacity and range are pending, but the Panda Mini is available with a variety of battery packs. The largest one offers 17 kWh of capacity and 210 km (130 miles) of CLTC-rated range.
