1,067-PS Porsche 911 enters Goodwood race

The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed and its traditional Hill Climb event are right around the corner, scheduled for this weekend. Famous Porsche restorer Gunther Werks will be attending the race with a particularly extreme 911 restomod, the F-26.

Based on the 993-generation 911, the car wears all-new bodywork inspired by the iconic Porsche 935 Flachbau. It’s largely made of composite materials and weighs as little as 1,200 kilograms (2,645 lbs) or so, while using a custom 4.0-liter flat-six engine for propulsion.

Built by Rothsport Racing, the engine drives the rear axle with 1,067 PS (1,052 hp / 785 kW) and 1,016 Nm (749 lb-ft) of torque via a six-speed manual transmission. Performance brakes, independent JRZ suspension and a roll cage sum up to make this coupe a formidable racer.

Gunther hasn’t specified what category the F-26 will be competing in. What we do know is that the company plans to produce 26 such street-legal vehicles, rumored to start from around $1.6 million.
