Kia Syros touches down in India

The Kia Syros is an affordable CUV coming to the Indian market in three distinct flavors – petrol, diesel and all-electric.

The vehicle is sized 3,995 x 1,800 x 1,665 mm (156 x 70.3 x 65 inches) large with 2,550 mm (99.6 inches) between the axles. It sports a boxy profile typical of all recent Kia SUVs with nearly vertical c-pillars. The trunk is good for 465 liters (16.4 cubic feet) of luggage.

Just as modern-looking is the interior with its laconic dashboard, squared steering wheel and large display unit. The latter comprises a couple of 12.3-inch screens with a 5-inch HVAC touch panel squeezed in between.

Depending on the trim level, you get up to six airbags, eight Harman-Kardon audio speakers, satellite navigation and power-adjustable front seats.

In its base spec, the Syros will ship in India with a 1.0-liter petrol turbo engine rated at 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW) and 172 Nm (127 lb-ft) of torque. You can opt for a 1.5-liter diesel instead and get 116 PS (114 hp / 87 kW) along with 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). Both can be ordered with a manual or automatic transmission.

Preorders will open in January, but the pricing won’t be released until February. The Syros EV is slated to arrive later at an unspecified date.
