Toyota extends Celica trademark rights
Toyota has prolonged its ownership of the “Celica” trademark in Japan, Europe and the United States, along with applying for a new nameplate, “GR Celica”, in Brazil.
The executives of the Japanese automotive giant confirmed last fall that the iconic Celica nameplate was going to be revived in the future. We haven’t heard any news about it since then, but it would be logical to assume that the new Celica is already under development.
Rumors speculate that it will be released with a next-generation 2.0T engine. We likely won’t know until 2028 or so – that’s when Toyota expects to launch it.
