The legend that is the Toyota Corolla has been around for six decades already, and it looks like the company has belatedly decided to celebrate this milestone. The so-called 60th Anniversary Special Edition is heading to the showrooms in the USA, but won’t reach them until 2027.
For what it’s worth, it’s not like the edition is all that special. It runs on the stock Hybrid SE underpinnings, sending the usual 143 PS (140 hp / 104 kW) to the wheels. A Supersonic Red exterior finish and 18-inch double-five-spoke wheels do help it stand out somewhat, as do the “60th Anniversary” decals on the lower doors and scuff plates.
Those who would like to maximize the value of their limited-run Corolla will want to pay extra for a new black/red trim. Other than that, Toyota says the bigger 10.5-inch multimedia display will be included as standard, and that’s it.
The production batch will be capped at 2,500 units for the U.S. market. Prices remain to be announced. The regular Corolla (see video) currently starts from $27,600.
