Video: Cadillac transforms its V-Series.R racer into a road-worthy supercar

Cadillac’s Design and Racing divisions have teamed up with Dallara to build just one road-legal supercar based on the company’s V-Series.R prototype.

It’s known as the V-One and comes equipped with a 5.5-liter, naturally aspirated V8 receiving assistance from one or more electric motors. Cadillac doesn’t go into detail here, but says that the peak output to the wheels amounts to 842 PS (830 hp / 619 kW). That should make it a seriously fast car, considering that the racing prototype packs 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) less.

The company proudly points out that it managed to keep the chassis, exterior and suspension tweaks to a reasonable minimum. The street ride gained Brembo performance brakes, simplified steering and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires, but not much else of note.

The cabin is still every bit as extreme as they get, housing a single synth-cloth-draped seat, a carbon-fiber helmet shelf to the right, and a yoke-shaped steering wheel with a digital dash in the middle. There isn’t really enough space for much more, but much more arguably isn’t needed, either.

Cadillac never said if there were any production plans for the V-One. As it stands, it’s currently considered a one-off concept vehicle. Still, we won’t put it past the company to announce a limited production run this coming fall, so stay tuned if you like it.
