Watch Focus ST, Golf GTI and Octavia RS drive the quarter-mile

The latest video by CarWOW pits together a Skoda Octavia RS, a Ford Focus ST and a Volkswagen Golf GTI on a wet road. All three cars have their drives on the front axle and compete in a number of disciplines, including a quarter-mile run, 0-100 km/h sprint, and a brake test.

The Skoda Octavia RS is both cheaper and more practical than its rivals, starting under £31,500 in Great Britain. Its two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pumps out 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque in conjunction with a DSG box. It weighs in at just 1,250 kilos (2,755 lbs).

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk.8 shares the drivetrain with the Octavia, but weighs 60 kg (132 lbs) less and costs £35,000+.

The Ford Focus ST has the most displacement, power and torque out of the three: its 2.3-liter turbo-four mill churns out 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. The solid numbers are somewhat offset by its increased weight of 1,534 kg (3,382 lbs) and lack of launch control. A seven-speed auto transmission drives the front wheels, and prices in the UK are on par with those of the latest Golf GTI.

As one might expect, all three performed very similarly in the main race. Watch the full video for some interesting details.
