Voyah Passion L bows in China

Voyah has shared the first photos of the upcoming Passion L sedan on its Weibo page. At the same time, details about the car appeared in the Ministry of Industry database.

The Passion L is sized 5,125 x 1,985 x 1,522 mm, which is 37 mm (1.5”) longer, 15 mm (0.6”) wider and 7 mm (0.27”) taller than standard. The wheelbase amounts to 3,010 mm, which is just 10 mm (0.4”) longer than the standard sedan – mostly because “L” in the name stands for “luxury”, not “long wheelbase”.

As for the images, Voyah admitted that it was posting them early because someone had already leaked a few to the Internet. As you can see, compared to the base trim the Passion L features a distinct radiator grille, a new front bumper and redesigned headlights. It also has a LiDAR above the windshield that powers its numerous ADAS functions.

Like the Voyah Free and Courage before it, the Passion L will likely utilize semi-autonomous driving software developed by Huawei. Based on the certification data, customers may also look forward to three kinds of multi-spoke wheels and an optional two-tone exterior.

The patent application mentions just one powertrain. It consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors driving the wheels – 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) at the front axle and 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW) at the back. The car maxes out at 200 km/h (124 mph), making it sound like a serial/range-extender hybrid.

The battery comes from Svolt and consists from nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cells. The capacity and range remain to be revealed.

The standard Voyah Passion (see video) has been on sale in China for a while now. It is available in plug-in hybrid and EV versions priced from 252,800 to 385,900 Yuan. The hybrid version packs a 43-kWh battery and runs 262 km (163 miles) on electricity alone, CLTC-rated. With the tank full, it can cover up to 1,260 km (783 miles) before refilling becomes necessary.
