Xiaomi’s Sky Nomad SUV duo reaches showrooms in China

The extra-large Sky Nomad N90 and its somewhat scaled-down N70 counterpart are now obtainable in China starting from 260,000 CNY (about 38,500 USD).

As a side note, Sky Nomad is a new hybrid vehicle brand created by Xiaomi. Both SUVs are over five meters (16.4 ft) long. The N90 measures 5,285 mm (208.1 inches) head-to-tail with 3,080 mm (121.3 inches) between the axles. The N70 stretches 4,960 mm (195.3 inches) long with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm (116.1 inches).

Both run on the company’s proprietary vehicle architecture called Kunlun and utilize an internal combustion engine from Changan as a power generator (i.e., range extender). It produces 152 PS (150 hp / 112 kW), but isn’t physically linked with the wheels.

The N90 comes equipped with two e-motors installed one per axle, sending a combined 422 PS (416 hp / 310 kW) to the asphalt. The N70 lists the same powertrain as optional, offering a single-motor/RWD alternative as standard with 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW). All-electric range maxes out at 464 km (288 miles) for the flagship and 505 km (313 miles) for the lesser model.

On the upside, the N70 is a faster sprinter to 100 km/h (62 mph) at 5.5 seconds. Its bulkier cousin barely manages the same exercise in 5.9 seconds.

The main difference between the two SUVs is that the N90 offers seven seats, while the N70 is capped at five. The first two seat rows support advanced massage functions and come with a “zero gravity” feature for relaxation. Both models come with a high-end multimedia system linked to a 25-speaker audio system and offer a wide range of standard and available ADAS features.
