Novelties
The all-electric Xpeng G9 crossover only went on sale in 2023, but stiff competition prompted the company to refresh it in a year and a half since launch.
The single-motor/RWD version goes up from its original 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW) to a solid 351 PS (346 hp / 258 kW). The same motor is now used at the rear axle of the AWD G9, but its rear motor goes down from 238 PS (235 hp / 175 kW) to just 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW), so the dual-motor version doesn’t benefit as much from the update.
Battery sizes were also shuffled around, with the FWD version getting 79 kWh instead of 78.2 and the AWD version getting 93 kWh instead of 98. The theoretical capacity numbers shouldn’t matter much, though, because Xpeng says the SUVs can now cover 625–725 kilometers (388–450 miles) on a charge. That’s a considerable improvement over the former 570–702 kilometers (354–436 miles).
On the outside, the new G9 is still sized 4,891 x 1,937 x 1,680 mm large with 2,998 mm between the axles. You can recognize it by its two-tone paint job with the roof offset in black and new alloy wheels. All these novelties are optional, though, meaning the new SUV can be made to look almost indistinguishable from the pre-facelift version.
Sales are expected to start in a few days or weeks.
