Bugatti Bolide racer goes street-legal with Lanzante’s help

The ultra-exclusive Bugatti Bolide starts from $4.7 million and is a purebred race car by design, never intended for street use. Nonetheless, one of the owners felt it would be nice to convert their example to be road-worthy.

The result was showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK this weekend. The work was performed by none other than Lanzante, a famous name when it comes to street-legal supercar conversions.

One of the tuner’s points of pride is how the end result looks barely different from the original – the entire body and kit look the same, except for some minor details like the headlights and the anti-fog lights built into the front fenders. Even the slick OEM tires somehow remain in place, making us curious what the relevant legislation is like over in the UK.

As for the 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 under the hood, it was reportedly tweaked for conformity with the emission standards. For all we know, it may have had to part with some of its original horsepower in order to achieve the desired emission profile, but Lanzante never disclosed any details.

We’ll probably never know how much the job cost, and anyone capable of purchasing one of the world’s 40 Bugatti Bolide hypercars likely won’t care to ask, either.
