Chery Tiggo 9L bows in China

The Chery Tiggo 9L is a full-size crossover utility vehicle intended for the international market. The version seen here is still a Shanghai show concept, but Chery says it will be ready for production soon.

As the letter “L” in its name suggests, the SUV is stretched compared to the normal Tiggo 9 – we’d imagine it being over 5 meters (16.4 feet) long. A glimpse of the cabin reveals three displays in the front row, and we suspect that a ceiling-mounted display can be found in the back. Chery didn’t say anything about the number of seats, but it would make sense for the 9L to be a seven-seater. Note also the LiDAR directly above the windshield, indicating an advanced ADAS package with self-driving features.

For the propulsion, the 9L uses a duo of electric motors driving one axle each while an engine supplies the power. It also takes advantage of a smart suspension system that scans the road ahead and makes adjustments.
