Cummins teases its first-ever petrol engine

Cummins Inc. has ben producing diesel engines in North America for 106 years now, but it has never made one running on gas. Things are about to change with the introduction of the B6.7 Octane, the first mass-produced Cummins petrol engine.

It has an inline six-cylinder design with a turbocharger and complies with the CARB 2027 emission standard. In its standard form, it produces 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and 895 Nm (660 lb-ft) of torque, but a de-boosted version will be available with 203 PS (200 hp / 150 kW) and 815 Nm (600 lb-ft).

Cummins says the engine will primarily find use in medium-duty trucks, delivery vans, buses, and camper vans.
