Klassen rolls out an armored G-Wagen worth €0.4M

The German aftermarket specialist has posted a list of armoring options for the 2019 Mercedes-AMG G 63. Customers can choose from three protection grades and should expect to pay roughly €400,000 for a finished SUV.

Bulletproof plates are added to the roof, the bottom and the sides of the G-Class. The glass dome gets reinforced with thicker glass panes all around, and door hinges get replaced with a more robust version rated to support the extra weight. Tires end up with ballistic rubber inlets for some run-flat capacity. The driver takes advantage of surround-view cameras, a siren with several sound options, and a fire extinguishing system.

As you can see in the gallery below, armoring grades available include VR6, VR7 and VR8. If you are looking to max out the protection, the stock 585-PS (577-hp / 430-kW) engine may become a little sluggish hauling all the added bulk around. For this case, Klassen offers several engine upgrades going all the way up to 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque.

All G-Class models and trims are accepted for the conversion – not just the year 2019 example seen here. As far as we know, the armoring is implemented seamlessly and doesn’t disrupt the operation of any systems on board.
