This OLED display is the cheapest way to pretend your Tesla is a Ferrari

Californian startup Evision has unveiled a rather unorthodox way to turn your Tesla EV into a less boring car. A thin curved OLED display on the front end can display a variety of images and animations, including all kinds of grilles found on much more iconic and recognizable vehicles.

A look at the 3D renderings provided reveals that you can stylize your Tesla face with styling cues from Bugatti, Ferrari, Maserati and Rolls-Royce, among other options. This even includes the badges, something that the automakers concerned will definitely want to take note of. If copyright infringement isn’t your cup of tea, further options include futuristic illustrations, urban and space vistas, and even pop culture idols. Evision argues that commercial car fleet operators could profit from advertising via these displays.

The image to be displayed can be set up easily via a smartphone app. The company reckons it should be able to offer these screens at $3,000 per unit max. Installation is not included, but should only take a few hours at a regular car workshop.

If you find yourself staring at the elephant in the room right now, then no, we have no idea how Evision plans to protect the fragile glass screen from flying stones and debris. It certainly seems to be a “just don’t drive it this way” type of situation.
