The modern incarnation of the first-generation Honda/Acura NSX from the 1990s will celebrate its live debut at the Paris International Motor Show in October this year. Meanwhile, we can already take a look at the finalized production car.
Co-created between JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina, the reborn NSX rides on its original chassis while taking advantage of an all-new, all-carbon body. The attention to detail is truly remarkable – even the challenging parts, such as the pop-up headlights and the sculpted rear end with an integrated spoiler, have been faithfully reproduced.
This isn’t to say that the restomod doesn’t take any detours. For example, it features a longer wheelbase and wider track for a more up-to-date driving feel. It also boasts a shortened rear overhang and lower suspension at both axles.
The interior manages to bring together modern and retro design cues without too many clashing details. For instance, you’ll have to look closely to spot the digital dashboard, and even then it doesn’t look out of place. The driver gets plenty of physical buttons and switches to toy around with along with a gear lever hooked to a six-speed manual transmission.
Power for the NSX revival comes from an aftermarket V6 engine that mimics the layout of Acura’s original mill, but benefits from power and torque improvements coming at no cost of forced induction. It’s naturally aspirated and should be a hoot to drive. We should learn the specifics closer to the Paris show debut.
