Ram announced its hardcore 1500 “Rumble Bee SRT” truck around three weeks ago, promising us whopping 788 PS (777 hp / 580 kW) and crazy performance in this limited edition. Apparently not impressed, Texas-based tuning firm Hennessey procured an example for itself and dialed the output to beyond 1,000 horsepower.
The project is fittingly called Maximus and is still a work in progress. We already know that the pickup gets an upgrade supercharger alongside numerous high-end engine bay components. Once installed, the tuning kit bumps the output of the 6.2-liter V8 further to 1,046 PS (1,032 hp / 769 kW) and 1,283 Nm (946 lb-ft) of torque.
With its newfound power, the Rumble Bee zaps 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) in three seconds flat and completes a quarter-mile run in 10.9 seconds. Perhaps most impressively of all, it can reportedly attain a top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph) in this form.
It’s also a looker with a VenomAero body kit on, inspired partly by the tuning company’s Venom 650R supercar dating back to 1999. The rear wing looks especially unhinged sitting above the bed like that, in our opinion. Then again, Hennessey admits you’ll actually have to take it off before attempting to get to the 200 miles per hour mentioned above.
As for the interior, it gets a complete makeover with premium leather, synthetic suede and more carbon fiber all around. The pricing details and availability dates are TBA.
