SAIC and Huawei spin off yet another car brand for China
Shangjie is a new automaker founded between Huawei Corp. and SAIC Group to produce electrified vehicles for its domestic market.
Shangjie is the fifth brand in Huawei’s HIMA lineup, which stands for “Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance”. It is already producing a wide variety of vehicles, but the new brand is aimed at the low-end segment of the market.
The first Shangjie-badged model will debut on April 10. It is a mid-size CUV coming to the market in hybrid and all-electric flavors.
