Novelties
The Chinese premium vehicle manufacturer has been selling its Guoyue bus with a 3.0-liter turbo V6 for two years now, and now an electrified version has joined the lineup.
It’s a serial hybrid with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine acting as a range-extender. The engine produces 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW) in this mode, generating electricity for a single motor driving the wheels with 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW).
That’s considerably less than the ICE version’s 292 PS (288 hp / 215 kW), but should be enough for a 7.3-meter (24-ft) long bus. Hongqi doesn’t specify the battery capacity, but claims that it’s enough for 82 km (51 miles) of all-electric range.
Prices start from 707,000 Yuan. For comparison, an entry-level V6 Guoyue will set you back just 468,000 Yuan.
