The Tank 300 Hooke has a solid front beam, challenges the worst terrain

Great Wall Group has attended Auto Shanghai with the most off-road-focused version of its Tank 300 SUV so far. It owes its name to the famous Hooke Off-Road Trail Park in the Helan Mountains in northwestern China, a popular destination for hardcore rock crawling enthusiasts.

Perhaps most importantly, the show car had a solid beam axle at the front end instead of its usual double-wishbone suspension. It also had a heavy-duty rear axle and springs, as well as new wheels with beadlock protection and Cooper all-terrain tires. The company neglected to mention the ground clearance, but it certainly looked higher than the stock 224 mm (8.75 inches).

A revised front bumper and extended wheel arches rounded off the build. Tank didn’t clarify when the 300 Hooke may be ready for the market.
