Inb4 Musk: Ex-Tesla and Lucid employees announce a roadster EV

UK-based automotive startup Longbow promises to release a fully electric super-roadster before Tesla does. Preorders are already being processed.

The company is run by Daniel Davy and Mark Tapscott, formerly employed at Tesla Inc. and Lucid Motors. Among other things, Davy supervised the launch of the Tesla Model 3 in Europe and was Lucid’s first official representative outside of North America. As for Tapscott, his resume mentions work on the Lotus Elise.

Right now, Longbow has production plans for two electric vehicles named Roadster and Speedster. Both are scheduled for production in 2026. With an aluminum platform at their base, both are extremely light for their class. The Roadster tips the scales at 995 kilos (2,194 lbs) and the Speedster is even lighter at 895 kg (1,973 lbs).

We hear that both cars should be able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5–3.6 seconds, but the numbers are unofficial and subject to change as the development continues.

Longbow claims some impressive start power in the team, name-dropping Aston Martin, Lotus and Tesla among its hiring spots. All production is expected to take place in the UK. Preorders start from £65,000 for the Roadster and £85,000 for the Speedster. For the time being, the company reckons it will produce 150 units of each and see how it goes.
