Tesla Cybertruck loses mirrors as promised, but no thanks to OEM

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said his futuristic battery truck would rely on rear view cameras alone, but the industry wasn’t ready for it, so it shipped with conventional mirrors tacked on. Some Tesla fans disliked it, and a company called Tesbros is now offering a delete kit.

It costs a cool $299 and comes with two ABS plastic plugs glued to a metal trim panel. Tesbros claims the plugs are easy to install in the mirror slots and should sit tightly no matter the weather. In states like Iowa, Montana, Georgia and Alabama, it is possible for a vehicle to be street-legal while missing one or both side mirrors – of course, Cybertruck owners will need to perform a due diligence check before proceeding with the deletion.

As far as we understand, the first production batch has already been sold out. One of the users reported the steel trim coming unstuck from the plastic support and flying off on the highway, but he received a replacement. Moving forward, Tesbros may switch to aluminum or all-plastic kits instead if they perform better.
