Urban Automotive has gotten its hands on a commercial version of the Land Rover Defender 110 and turned it into a somewhat odd-looking, but carbon-clad pickup truck.
The British tuner had to remove most of the rear bodywork and glass, installing a roll cage to keep the frame stiff. It trimmed the frame and the bed walls with carbon fiber, ending up with a deep, but not particularly useful-looking cargo compartment. New 23-inch wheels were slotted into flared wheel arches, and the hood ended up with a rather weird, vaguely tumor-like cascaded dome.
In turn, the cab was shortened to just one row and separated from the bed with a carbon partition. UA also installed seats with enhanced lateral support and refreshed the trim. Customers can choose between glossy and matte carbon fiber for their own truck.
No pricing details were revealed. A somewhat less sophisticated, but more utilitarian-looking Defender 130 conversion from Heritage Customs in the Netherlands will set you back from €65,000. This one looks like it might pack a premium due to all the carbon fabrication involved.
