Toyota Land Cruiser Prado becomes a van for UK

The British office of Toyota has announced a new Land Cruiser model that’s a light commercial van based on the Prado (Cruiser 250) chassis.

The new LC Commercial is set go into production in Derbyshire, England soon. Shipments will begin on September 1, and prices start from £52,729, which is roughly £25,000 below the passenger version.

There is only one seat row in the cabin, metal plates screen the windows from the inside, and a partition wall separates the cargo area from the rest of the cabin. The usable area is 1,685 mm (65.8 inches) long, 1,286 mm (50.2”) wide and 1,090 mm (42.6”) tall. The volume is close to 2,000 liters (70.6 cubic feet), Land Rover says.

Propulsion still comes from the familiar 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine delivering 204 PS (201 hp / 151 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission distributes the torque across the four wheels. The company argues that this setup makes the LC Commercial a capable off-road delivery vehicle suitable for suburban transportation.

Aside from that, the automaker highlights the generous standard trim, which includes 18-inch wheels, heated and power-adjustable seats, a two-zone HVAC and a 9-inch head unit.
