The new Xpeng G9L is expected to go on sale later this year in hybrid and EV variants priced from 300,000 Yuan, which amounts to $44,400.
The exterior of the Chinese marque’s latest large SUV looks in line with its other recent releases. It sports an agile silhouette with a gently slanting roof, a shoulder line rising towards the rear end, and a prominent rear spoiler. 22-inch wheels fill out their arches nicely, and the doors close automatically.
Sized at 5,120 x 1,999 x 1,795 millimeters large with 3.1 meters between the axles, the G9L is a large vehicle. Despite that, it is somehow only going to be offered as a five-seater. Xpeng lists a host of premium options, like seats that use whopping 91 pressure sensors to determine the passenger’s pose and adjust accordingly. A fridge and an AR-powered HUD are also listed, along with numerous modern ADAS.
Powering the hybrid variant of the SUV is a 1.5-liter turbo four-pot making 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) as a power generator not connected to the wheels. All actual propulsion is handled by either one rear e-motor rated at 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) or two e-motors mounted one per axle, making a total of 504 PS (496 hp / 370 kW). The maximum electric range is capped at 350 kilometers (217 miles), but goes well beyond 1,000 km (621 mi) with the gas tank maxed.
In turn, the Xpeng G9L EV can be obtained in a RWD spec rated at 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) or an AWD spec capable of 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW). The maximum possible range is manufacturer-estimated at 805 km (500 miles), but replenishing 450 km (280 mi) worth of charge only takes nine minutes given a sufficiently powerful outlet.
The specific premiere dates and destination markets remain to be announced.
