Bufori, a niche automaker best known for handmade luxury sedans with supercar price tags, has decided to do something new and release a U.S.-style muscle car. The CS8 is now available to purchase in Malaysia and beyond starting from the equivalent of $517,000.
Stylistically, the car harkens back to the CS Concept from six years ago. In turn, that car was inspired by the BMS R1 first revealed in 2009. It is 4,568 mm (178.5 inches) long with a wheelbase of 2,609 mm (102 inches).
The entire body and aero kit are made from carbon fiber and reinforced with Kevlar, just like all of Bufori’s previous creations. The cabin somehow manages to combine luxury with motorsport aesthetics, wearing a leather trim atop of Recaro bucket seats and offering pretty much every creature comfort expected from a modern street-legal car. These include a 13.6-inch infotainment display, a climate control system and an ADAS package. The steering wheel comes from the Dodge shelf, and the dashboard is analog instead of digital.
Power for the wheels comes from a 6.4-liter supercharged Hemi V8 rated at 821 PS (810 hp / 604 kW). The company claims the rear wheels receive 760 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) via a limited-slip differential, which is quite impressive. The coupe needs three seconds to go from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and can ultimately hit 330 km/h (205 mph).
Other noteworthy features include Brembo brakes, adaptive suspension and a low curb weight of 1,550 kilos (3,417 pounds). The origin of the chassis isn’t mentioned anywhere. Those who would rather opt for a more practical engine can choose from a number of naturally aspirated and turbocharged six- and eight-cylinder options, but we suspect that the supercharged V8 top spec will be the first one to ship. Considering that every Bufori CS8 takes more than 9,000 hours to put together, you may find yourself waiting months or years for your order to be delivered.
